Tiverton took the early lead within the first two minutes of play with a fluke shot to the side of Bristols new goalie. The Cyclones immediately took action and put on a strong offensive attack that was strongly supported by the backfield. Bristol players Georgia Teixeira, Sarina Olson, Abigail Lombardo and Jenna Cimbron all scored goals in the first half and the game as they went into the half with the Cyclones leading 4-2.
The second half found the Cyclones facing a determined and aggressive Tiverton team that added six additional goals to their score. Bristol player Jenna Cimbron added two goals to Bristol's scoreboard during the second half and brought her total goal count to three for the day including one buzzer beater at the end of the game.
Jenna Cimbron, Kerrie Larson, Abigail Lombardo, Sarina Olson and Georgia Teixeira handled the offensive duties for the Cyclones while Shyanne Gardiner-Gagne, Colleen Killeavy, Sawyer Levesque and Rayna Medeiros helped to protect the backfield.
Playing her first-ever full game as a keeper, Haley Correira shined like an all-star in the net. Her efforts were notice by everyone in attendance. After the game Tivertons coach called out Correiras strong play as a highlight to the day.
Despite the outcome, the Cyclones need to be proud of their level of play. The team is a very young team that is competing against older teams with more experience. All team members are learning a little more every week.
The Cyclones return to the practice field this Thursday at 6PM at Teamworks and their next game is scheduled for 1PM on Saturday against an unknown North Providence team.
