The Bristol Cyclones, U-7 girls' soccer team recently qualified for the Kick-It 3v3 World Championships to be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL January 19th to 21st.
The Cyclones were one of four Bristol Youth Soccer Association teams to compete at last month's preliminary tournament in Hartford, Conn., and one of three teams to qualify for the regional event, held Saturday and Sul1day Aug. 18 and 19 in New Brunswick, N.J.
The National Kick-it 3v3 style features fast paced action with only three players per team on the pitch at any given time. The Cyclones fell behind by two games in the race for the world championship berth, but rallied for three consecutive wins. The Cyclones let a 3-0 halftime lead slip away in their first game versus the Soccer Sisters out of Long Island.
They didn't recover in Game Two, as the YMS Girls out of Pennsylvania won convincingly, 4-1. But Bristol's squad built momentum in their third game, defeating the Pinelanders - The Storm out of New Jersey 7-0.
The Cyclones knocked off Norwin Nightmare from Pennsylvania, 5-2, in their first playoff round, then punched their ticket to Disney World with a 7-3 win over the Long Island Dollz.
Members of the team are: Kerrie Larson, Jenna Cimbron, Sarina Olson, Georgia Teixeira and Sawyer Levesque. Kris Larson is the head coach and is assisted by Rob Cimbron.
