The Bristol Colts enjoyed a fun filled undefeated weekend in the Barrington Tournament. The girls were able to show off their exceptional ball control and tough defense all weekend. It was obvious to the competition that these girls had a great understanding of the game and positional play.
The weekend started off with a game against Barrington on Saturday in which they won 3-0. The Barrington girls put up a good fight in this game. They then went on to play Dalton. Dalton had traveled from Northern Massachusetts to compete in this tournament. They showed great sportsmanship and were easily outplayed in a 6-0 shutout by the Bristol girls. The girls were able to finish the day with two impressive victories without allowing a goal.
The next day was filled with rain and mud but the girls played through it for two more games. The first game was against Warren. Although Warren was able to break their shutout streak they were unable to stop Bristols potent offense that led to an 8-1 victory for the Colts. The second game of the day became a fun filled mud game in which the Bristol girls were able to shutout Portsmouth 7-0. Overall, the girls outscored their competition to a total score of 24-1 for the weekend.
The outstanding goaltending was performed by the combination of Destinee DeSousa and Kellsie Mitchell. It was hard to believe that both girls were making their debuts in goal in competitive play. The tremendous defense was a team effort led by Destinee DeSousa, Victoria Sousa, Kaitlyn Costa, Kaelyn Silveira and Melanie DaSilva. The goal scoring parade on offense was spreadout amongst players including Melanie DaSilva, Kaelyn Silveira, Sofia Cabral, Chrissy Conley, Kellsie Mitchell and Kaitlyn Costa. Players not available for the tournament were Madison Beck and Lexi Winnes.
Overall it was a great experience for all involved in this years Barrington Invitational Tournament
